CPL Week 5: Forge Continue to Put Pressure on Cavalry

HAMILTON, ON June 17 – Forge FC climbed back against Valour FC after conceding early to take a win in the fifth game week of the 2019/2020 Canadian Premier League season.

While the league went on a break last week due to Canadian Club Championship fixtures, Bobby Smyrniotis’ team knew they had a difficult match up with Valour once league play had resumed. No other result but a win was to be acceptable, as the Hamilton club still have mighty ambitions left to be filled by July. With Saturday’s end result, the statement made by the home side was clear, Forge refuse to concede the CPL’s spring season to Cavalry FC who currently lead it. After defeating Valour 2:1 at Tim Hortons Field, Forge’s hopes are kept alive with a pair of late goals in a sizzling home fixture.
