Sinclair Named Canada’s Women’s Soccer Player of 2016

OTTAWA, Canada. December 15 (T90 CAN) – Christine Sinclair has been named the 2016 Canada Soccer Women’s player of the year.

Sinclair has won Canadian player of the year honours an incredible 13 times in the last 17 years.

The Canadian captain played a leading role in helping Canada qualify for Rio 2016.

Sinclair then scored three goals at the Olympics. Including the match-winning goal in the Bronze medal game as Canada returned to the Olympic podium.

Also in 2016, Sinclair surpassed Mia Hamm to become the world’s all-time second best goal scorer.

At the club level Sinclair scored 7 goals in 12 matches helping Portland Thorns FC win the NWSL Shield.
