EDMONTON, Alberta. January 4 (T90) – FC Edmonton have sold the rights of Shamit Shome to the MLS.
This move comes in the effort to add Shome to the 2017 Canadian Generation adidas roster.
Players who are part of Generation adidas are eligible for the MLS Draft, which allows MLS clubs to draft promising young players without any worries of existing professional club contracts.
2017 marks the first year Generation adidas extends to Canada.
Shome is a product of the FC Edmonton academy program. Throughout 2016 he received rave reviews during his play in the NASL which in turn has attracted sharp interest from the MLS.
In addition to Shome, League1 Ontario ANB Futbol forward Adonijah Reid will also make up the inaugural Generation adidas Canada class.
