Canada Looking Into 2026 World Cup Bidding Options

OTTAWA, Ontario. December 30 (T90) – Canada is looking into the potential of hosting a FIFA World Cup come 2026.

Considering the latest news of FIFA now toying with the idea of expanding the FIFA World Cup finals, the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) is now looking into two possible hosting scenarios.

Such options are to either host the World Cup themselves or go into a joint bid together with the United States and Mexico.

“We’ve already started (our bid) in a soft way,” CSA President Victor Montagliani told the Toronto Sun.

“We’ll find out more in January what this thing is going to look like. We have to make a decision thereafter from a CONCACAF perspective whether there will be three bids or joint bids or what it’s going to look like.”

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has already told the public this week that by 2026 it will be an almost certainty that the World Cup would be expanded to as many as 48 teams.
